What is your experience in passing kidney stones.?
Have you passed it on your own, or was surgery needed via stone retrieval or lithotripsy…I ask because my son is trying to pass one,
and we are due to fly on Wednesday.
The doctor okayed it, she gave medicine to bring, buy you are probably right!
My experienced is as "the care giver" of patients with stones:
These are the general principles that I personally followed:
Kidney stones 3mm or less will pass 100%
Stones 5 – 10 mm will pass but it can become obstructed.
Stones greater that 10mm will probably not pass and may requires interventions of some kind.
Stones less than 10 mm may be allowed to pass as long as:
1. No severe pain that necessitates narcotic shots
2. Patient has no fever
3. No loss of kidney functions in X-rays.
If there is Pain, Fever or loss of kidney functions, you need to be in the hospital immediately!.
Good luck
I don’t think I’d put him on a plane with that kind of pain. The change in pressure might not be a good thing.
