Blood in urine whilst passing kidney stones is this normal?

adminApril 18th, 2011Uncategorized5 Comments ยป

My husband had/has kidney stones, the pain has gone now but there is quite a lot of blood in his urine is this normal? Does it mean it’s trying to come out? Thanks

Blood in the urine indicates movement of the stone and is inevitable. Hopefully it will pass unaided.

It means that the stone has torn thr uthera, my advice is get him to hospital asap as there is a chance that the stone gets stuck and that equals a lot of pain and damage.

Blood is not unusual, but if the pain has gone there’s a good possibility that the stone has passed.

Glad the pain has gone – My Doc said the pain is like childbirth for men!

yes it means the stone is moving and may have scratched the lining of the ureter as it leaves the kidney or the urethra on the way out as he wees. Nothing to worry about unless theres lots of blood
